  • Database Operations and Lifecycle Management
    • Manage end-to-end database platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MariaDB, and MongoDB.
    • Implement, configure, initialize, and decommission database instances across on-premises and hybrid environments.
    • Execute patching and upgrade cycles in accordance with vendor recommendations and internal maintenance windows: Microsoft SQL Server (monthly); PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and MongoDB (quarterly); Oracle (semi-annually).
    • Ensure database environments remain secure, supported, and compliant with lifecycle and obsolescence policies.
  • Database Migration and Transformation
    • Plan and execute database migrations (version upgrades, platform changes, consolidation, and modernization initiatives).
    • Assess risks, dependencies, and downtime requirements during migrations, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
    • Support transformation initiatives, including legacy database replacement, architecture redesign, and cloud readiness assessments.
  • Backup, Recovery, and Disaster Recovery
    • Design, implement, and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and compliance with Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
    • Regularly validate recovery procedures through testing and supporting documentation.
    • Define, implement, and maintain Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies, including replication, failover testing, and documented recovery procedures.
    • Act as a key contributor during critical incidents and recovery scenarios, providing technical leadership and root cause analysis.
  • Performance, Monitoring, and Reliability
    • Perform proactive monitoring, health checks, and performance tuning of database environments.
    • Analyze capacity trends and anticipate scalability requirements.
    • Develop and execute scripts for reporting, automation, and enhanced operational visibility.
    • Ensure timely escalation and resolution of critical database-related incidents.
  • Governance, Compliance, and Documentation
    • Work in strict compliance with ITIL 4 processes (Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, and Service Request Management).
    • Ensure compliance with data residency, access control, and security policies.
    • Maintain up-to-date documentation, including architecture diagrams, operational procedures, backup and disaster recovery plans, and migration plans.
    • Support audits and compliance processes by providing operational evidence and clear reporting.
  • Obsolescence and Asset Management
    • Identify obsolete database versions and unsupported platforms.
    • Define remediation plans, including upgrades, migrations, or platform decommissioning.
    • Ensure accurate asset tracking and lifecycle reporting.

 

Are you the one we are looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong hands-on experience managing enterprise database environments.
  • Proven experience with database upgrades and migrations, backup and restore operations, and Disaster Recovery implementation.
  • Experience coordinating with remote teams and external service providers.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise IT architectures and operational governance.
  • Advanced expertise in MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle.
  • Deep knowledge of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery best practices.
  • Experience in database performance optimization and capacity planning, as well as familiarity with database monitoring and alerting tools.
  • Experience with scripting and automation to improve operational efficiency will be valued.
  • Methodical, proactive, and problem-solving mindset.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and commitment in production environments.
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural and geographically distributed teams.
  • High adaptability to evolving priorities and complex environments.
  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications will be considered an advantage.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Availability to travel as required.
